Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will be able to describe stochastic phenomena by mathematical means. During the course they will learn about the basic concepts of probability theory and some probability models. Students will be able to use some selected statistical methods to solve practical examples after completing the course.
 
Course contents:
1. Axiomics in Probability Theory
2. Random variables and their characteristics
3. Some discrete probability distribution types, generating random numbers with a given distribution type
4. Some discrete probability distribution types, generating random numbers with a given distribution type
5. Some continuous probability distribution types, generating random numbers with a given distribution type
6. Some contiguous probability distribution types, generating random numbers with a given distribution type
7. Probability distribution in space
8. Random vectors - multidimensional random variables, generating random numbers with a given distribution type
9. Descriptive statistics and random sampling
10. Estimation theory (point and interval estimates)
11.Testing of selected statistical hypotheses
12.Testing of selected statistical hypotheses
