|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
To acquire aptitude for an objective analysis of the ethical dimension of information communication technologies and their influence and effects on the society as well as individuals.
1.Introduction to ethics. The significance of ethics in the IT studies.
2.Morale and its structure. The evolution of ethical reasoning.
3.The Good and Bad as central notions of ethics. Conscience and public opinion. Responsibility as an ethical category.
4.Utility as an ethical category. Duty as an ethical category. Tolerance as an ethical category. Justice as an ethical category. Discourse as an ethical category.
5.Fundamental ethical rights within the IT. Fundamental ethical responsibilities within the IT.
6.Key moral issues in IT. Computer crime, computer piracy, hacking, digital divide, and plagiarism.
7.Netiquette. Ethical norms for computer users. Ethical rules for e-communication.
8.Social networks from the perspective of ethics.
9.Code of ethics as the basic tool for institutionalization of ethics in an organization. Types of code of ethics. Analysis of particular codes of ethics in IT sector. Specific ethical standards in the IT profession.
10. On the methods of ethical dilemmas solution in general. Specifics of solution of ethical dilemmas regarding the IT.
11. Integration model of ethics and significance of ethics in the work of an IT manager.
12. Projects dealing with analysis of ethical aspects of IT - presentations.
